Palworld Breeding Combos Guide
Published: August 16, 2026 ยท Updated: August 16, 2026
Breeding in Palworld lets you combine two parent Pals to create an egg that hatches into a specific offspring. The offspring is determined by the combination of the parents, not by which Pal is male or female. This guide covers the most valuable breeding combos, passive skill inheritance mechanics, and how to set up an efficient breeding farm.
How Breeding Works
To breed Pals, you need a Breeding Farm (unlocked at level 19 via Technology Points). Place one male and one female Pal in the farm, and they will produce an egg after a set period. The egg can be placed in an incubator to hatch.
- Time: Eggs take 30-60 minutes of real-time to hatch (depending on world settings).
- Gender: You need one male and one female of the parent species. Same species breeding produces the same species.
- Cross-breeding: Different species produce specific offspring based on hidden "breeding power" values.
Essential Breeding Combos
Anubis (Handiwork 4 โ Best Crafter)
Combo: Celaray + Relaxaurus
Anubis is arguably the most valuable Pal to breed early. With Handiwork Level 4, it crafts items at lightning speed. Anubis is also a great combat Pal with Ground-type attacks.
Lyleen (Planting 4 โ Best Farmer)
Combo: Petalia + Menasting
Lyleen is the best Planter in the game. It also has Medicine Level 3 and Handiwork Level 3, making it one of the most versatile base Pals.
Jormuntide (Watering 4 โ Best Waterer)
Combo: Relaxaurus + Mau
Jormuntide is essential for large-scale farming operations. Its Level 4 Watering keeps crops hydrated continuously.
Jormuntide Ignis (Kindling 4 โ Best Smelter)
Combo: Jormuntide + Bushi
Once you have Jormuntide, breed it with Bushi to get the fire variant. This Pal is critical for fast ingot production.
Shadowbeak (Dark โ Best Late-Game Attacker)
Combo: Kitsun + Astegon
Shadowbeak is one of the strongest combat Pals. Breeding it avoids the difficult fight against Victor.
Astegon (Mining 4 โ Best Miner)
Combo: Dragon-type + Dark-type (various combos)
Astegon can also be bred instead of caught in the wild. It is worth the effort for its Mining Level 4 alone.
Passive Skill Inheritance
Passive skills are inherited from parents with a specific probability:
- 50% chance to inherit each passive skill from either parent
- 10% chance to mutate a new random skill
- 40% chance to inherit nothing from that slot
To maximize the chance of getting the passives you want:
- Breed Pals with the same passives: If both parents have "Legend" and "Musclehead," the offspring has a much higher chance of inheriting both.
- Use "clean" breeding partners: Breed a Pal with only the passives you want and a "blank" Pal (no passives) to reduce unwanted inheritance.
- Patience is key: You may need 10-20 eggs to get the perfect combination of passives.
Best Passive Skills
- Legend: +20% ATK, +20% DEF, +15% Movement Speed (exclusive to Legendary Pals)
- Musclehead: +30% ATK, -10% Work Speed (best for combat Pals)
- Ferocious: +20% ATK (good all-rounder)
- Burly Body: +20% DEF (tanky Pals)
- Work Slave: +30% Work Speed, -10% ATK (best for base workers)
- Artisan: +50% Work Speed, -10% ATK (best for crafting)
- Swift: +30% Movement Speed (best for mounts)
Setting Up a Breeding Farm
- Build a Breeding Farm โ requires Wood, Stone, and Fiber. Place it on flat ground near your base.
- Build an Incubator โ requires Ancient Technology Points. Place it near the Breeding Farm.
- Assign a Ranch Pal โ Pals like Mozzarina (milk), Beegarde (honey), and Woolipop (cotton candy) produce cake ingredients in the ranch.
- Make Cake โ Cake is the only food that Pals eat in the Breeding Farm. You need Flour, Berry, Milk, Egg, and Honey. Cook it in a Cooking Pot or Electric Kitchen.
- Assign parents โ Place the male and female in the Breeding Farm and make sure they have cake in the feeding box.
